Br. Alberto Pedro (Br. Peter)
Francisco Sotomayor was born on October 6, 1892, at Yuriria, Guanajuato, Mexico. He entered the Novitiate at Mexico City in 1913, and received the habit and religious name of Brother Albert Peter. Religious persecutions of those days in Mexico led to his exile to Cuba where he completed his novitiate. He made his scholasticate in Pocantico Hills, New York. His first assignment was at the Catholic Protectory in New York. In 1916 he was assigned to Santa Fe and spent ten years in New Mexico and ten years in Louisiana. In 1942 he was one of the founding Brothers of the Community of Monterray, Mexico. In 1948 he was assigned to Cretin High School in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he remained for eighteen years, until he retired at Lafayette, Louisiana. He died at age eighty-seven, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for sixty-five years.
