James  Joseph Carrigan was born on April 3, 1930, in Vicksburg, Mississippi.  "Jimmy Jo" Carrigan entered the Juniorate at La Salle Institute in  Glencoe, in February of 1945 at age fifteen.   Three years later he graduated to the Novitiate where in August of  1948 he received the habit and religious name of Brother Leonorus  Daniel.  He completed his Scholasticate  training in Winona, Minnesota, at St. Mary's College and his tour of duty  included: La Salle Juniorate, Glencoe, Missouri; Central Catholic High School  in Vincennes, Indiana; Christian Brothers College in St. Louis, Missouri,  1954-58; Price College in Amarillo, Texas, 1958-59; Helias High School in  Jefferson City, Missouri; and La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Dan served at La Salle from 1967 until 1984  where his love of sports shined when he initiated the intramural program in  addition to his duties in the business department. He was a basketball  referee in his spare time.  In 1981 he  had a heart by-pass operation but died in 1984 of heart failure following his  favorite event, "a La Salle High School  basketball game".  He was fifty-four years old at the time of  his death and had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for thirty-nine years
