Br. Leonorian Maurice
John Anglim was one of seven children born to Francis and Rose (Purcell) Anglim. He graduated from De La Salle High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1942 and the same year entered the novitiate of the Christian Brothers in Glencoe, Missouri. He pronounced his first vows in 1943 and his final vows in 1949. Brother Maurice earned his BA from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota, in 1946. In later years he earned his MA from St. Louis University, an MPS and an MA, both from Loyola University in Chicago. During his years as an educator, he taught in Chicago at St. Mel High School, St. Patrick High School and at De La Salle High School. He also taught at St. George High School in Evanston, Illinois, and St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois. He served as Provincial and Auxiliary Provincial of the Chicago District from 1966 to 1972. Over the years, at different times, he was also a member of the Brothers’ formation team, community director, and associate director of Lasallian Volunteers. From 1987 to 1990 he was called again to serve as Auxiliary Provincial. In 1993 he became Healthcare Coordinator and served for seven years in that position. He retired in 2003 and moved to Resurrection Life Center in 2008. He died at age eighty-five, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for sixty-six years.
