Br. Kevin Alexis
Eugene Burns was born in Chicago on October 9, 1905, and was one of the first students to attend the newly opened Saint Mel's High School to enter the Christian Brothers. He joined the Juniorate at Glencoe, Missouri, in February of 1921 and graduated the following year to the Novitiate in June of 1922. There he received the habit and the religious name of Brother Kevin Alexis. Because of illness he was sent to Chicago in June of 1924 where he died at age nineteen, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for only three years.
