Br. Adelmian William
John Brown was born in Baltimore, Maryland on September 3, 1844. The circumstances which brought him in contact with the Christian Brothers are not known, but he presented himself to the Novitiate in New York, and received the habit and name of Brother Adelmian William on March 19, 1864. In 1865 he was assigned to Pass Christian College, in Pass Christian, Mississippi. Shortly after he was stationed at St. Mary's College in Galveston, Texas. There is very little information about him, but it is known that it was here that he caught yellow fever and died in 1866 in Galveston at age twenty-two, having been a De La Salle Christian Brother for only two years.
