On Monday, November 25, a new plaque commemorating 50 years since the closure of St. George High was dedicated at 350 Sherman Avenue in Evanston, Illinois, the original site of St. George.

The  plaque was commissioned by John O’Connell, a 1962 graduate. The ceremony was attended by several St. George High School alumni and members of the District Office, including Brother Michael Fehrenbach, Visitor, and Brother Chris Englert, Auxiliary Visitor. Evanston Alderman, Thomas Suffredin, was also in attendance.

“Dragons, this plaque is for you, for your classmates who are no longer with us and for your families to know where you came from. Thank you for allowing St. George to be such an important part of all of our journeys,” said Brother Michael in his remarks.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered for a luncheon at Trattoria DOC in Evanston, IL.
