Brother Jerome Rademacher (A communication from the Saint Mary’s Alumni Association).
It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Brother Jerome Rademacher, FSC ’58, PhD., long-time beloved physics professor and one of the founders of Saint Mary’s trail system.
Brother Jerome passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, at St. Anne’s Extended Health Care. He was 75 years old.
Brother Jerome professed his final vows with the Christian Brothers in 1961, and dedicated his lifelong career to education. He first joined Saint Mary’s faculty from 1965-69 and worked consecutively at the university from 1974 to 2008.
One of the first people to teach computer science at Saint Mary’s, Brother Jerome spent the majority of his 40-year tenure in the Physics Department. An avid outdoors man, he is well known for his leadership outside the classroom as well. For 25 years, he took science students on a trip to national labs — opting to camp during the excursion instead of staying in hotels. Brother Jerome greatly enjoyed sharing his two passions — science and the outdoors — with his students, as well as with the public.
A community Facebook page, “In Memory of Brother Jerome,” has been set up for everyone to share personal photos, memories and messages about Brother Jerome.
