Second Annual Lasallian Day Memphis

On Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Memphis Botanic Garden, over 85 of our friends, alumni, and Brothers from the Memphis area gathered for lunch and an update from the Midwest District.

The program included a presentation by Brother Larry Schatz, Visitor/Provincial of the Midwest District. He spoke about different areas of vitality and importance for the Brothers in the Midwest and internationally.

I think that one of the assumptions about working in the Midwest District Office is that you think folks outside of the office know about statistics, ministries, or the varied populations that our Brothers and lay partners serve.

It’s always great to hear a guest say, “Oh, I had no idea!” Memphis was like that (Brother Larry is also a great speaker-teacher voice, included).

Everyone enjoyed a buffet lunch catered by Fratelli’s Fine Catering and we closed the Lasallian Day with updates from each of our local ministries. We had Dan Salvaggio from De La Salle at Blessed Sacrament, Nancy Lanigan and her colleagues from Christian Brothers High School, and Stephen Kirkpatrick from Christian Brothers University finish it off. Brother Francisco Martin even spoke up about the high school exchange between CBHS and students from his home country. His excitement was mirrored through the entire room!

It was a great trip to Memphis, from the hospitality to the geniality we received from AFSC’s, loyal donors, friends, alums, and colleagues. We can’t wait to be back in Memphis and it was a great way to close out the fall lineup of Lasallian Days!

The spring brings us to warmer climates, from San Diego all the way to Naples. If you are wintering anywhere around the country, let us know-we’d love to see you!

Sincerely,
Megan Davison, Assistant Director for Development
