District Jubilee Celebration 2013

The Midwest District Brother Jubilarians were honored at a special liturgy on Saturday, July 20 at St. Charles Borromeo Chapel on the Lewis University campus.

During the mass two significant rites took place: Brother Anthony (Tony) Elfering received the habit as he prepares to enter our Regional Novitiate in August.

Also two postulants, Brothers Jonathon Emmanuelson and Mark Engelmeyer renewed their promises, and three young men, Ryan Anderson, Jerry Brocky and Michael Phipps made their first promises as they prepare to enter the Jeremy House next month.

The mass was followed by a reception in the Lewis University Field House.

District Jubilee Celebration 2012

The Midwest District Brother Jubilarians were honored at a special liturgy on Saturday, July 14. The 5:00pm mass was held at the newly air-conditioned St. Charles Borromeo Chapel on the Lewis University campus. Brother Larry, Visitor, introduced  each of the Jubilarians and shared some information about each one as they processed in.

Servant of God Brother James Miller would have celebrated his 50th jubilee this year. Bro. James was killed in Guatemala in 1982.

St. Charles Borromeo is a beautiful worship space with wonderful acoustics.

 

Rich Raho, Campus Minister at St. Patrick High School, led the music ministry for the celebration, which included timpani and brass.

Five of the 14 Contacts for the District were present and received a special blessing from the Brothers and guests. L to R: Johnathon Emmanuelson, Matt Lehman, Mark Engelmeyer, Matt Kotek, and Michael Phipps.

Aspirants Johnathon Emmanuelson and Mark Engelmeyer will be postulants at Jeremy House in Philadelphia this fall, and pronounced First Promises.

Rev. Dan McCotter CSP presided at the liturgy. As a former Christian Brother, he was part of the 50th Jubilee class.

The ten jubilarians present were: (back)  Brothers Phil Johnson (50), Stephen Markham (50), Paul Grass (60). Frank Carr (50) and Stan Sobcyzk (50); (front) Mike Callahan (60), Finbar McMullen (70), Tom Power (70), Jim Roszak (60), and Joe O’Malley (60). (Brothers Norman Wray and John Wozniak were not able to be present)

The mass was followed by a reception in the Lewis University Field House.
