Bro. Alvaro’s Visit: Tulsa, OK

Where we spend a lot of time these days

Back in the airport waiting for our flight back to Chicago. It’s been a great 24 hours in Tulsa. Last evening when we arrived, the Brothers hosted a reception for Bishop Kelley and San Miguel people who had been through Lasallian formation. Bro. Alvaro also had a chance to meet the three Lasallian Volunteers in Tulsa: John Dellipriscoli, Andrew Ketchum, and Jim McAndrew.

This morning we had a wonderful liturgy with Bishop Slattery presiding, and all of the San Miguel students present as well. This was a historic day for Bishop Kelley; it’s the first time in its 50-year history that they have received a visit from the Superior General of the Christian Brothers. Thanks to a local Catholic newspaper photographer, we have some great photos of the event:

After lunch we went over to San Miguel for a visit with the staff and students there. We saw a short video on the school after which the students asked several questions of Bro. Alvaro. We were then given a tour of the school, which used to share space in the Church basement. Now they have moved into the former Catholic Charities buildings nearby, and students and staff seem very happy to be in their “new” space.
