Description and Responsibilities of the Council
The Mission and Ministry Council of the Midwest District was established in the fall of 2002 in response to Propositions 4, 5 and 6 of the 43rd General Chapter and the action of Session Six of the Midwest District Chapter 2000.*

Responsibilities
“The Mission and Ministry Council will be responsible for the Lasallian educational mission of the Midwest District.” – Midwest District Chapter 2000

The Mission and Ministry Council along with the District Council assists the Brother Visitor in the exercise of his duties.

The Mission and Ministry Council deals with the following issues:
1. Formation
2. Service to the poor
3. Sponsorship
4. Evangelization
5. Other ministerial issues

Relevant issues for the Mission and Ministry Council include but are not limited to:
1. Initial and continuing formation of those involved in ministry.
2. Ongoing evaluation of “Goals and Criteria of Lasallian Ministries of the Midwest District.” 3. Approval of new ministries.
4. Evaluation of the degree to which each ministry complies with the directive of “Educational Service to the Poor.” (Propositions 4 and 12 of the 43rd General Chapter).
5. Seeking new types of ministries to address evolving societal needs and opportunities for evangelization.
6. Other relevant issues for District-owned entities.

The Mission and Ministry Council meets four times annually.
