Brother Maurice (Leonorian Maurice) Anglim, 84, died on December 29, 2009. A De La Salle Christian Brother for 66 years, he was born John Vincent in Kansas City, MO, the son of Francis and Rose (Purcell) Anglim. He graduated from De La Salle High School in Minneapolis in 1942 and the same year entered the novitiate of the Brothers in Glencoe, MO. He pronounced his first vows in 1943 and his final vows in 1949. Brother Maurice earned his BA from Saint Mary’s College in Winona, MN, in 1946. In later years he obtained an MA from St. Louis University, and an MPS and an MA from Loyola University Chicago. During his years as an educator he taught at St. Mel, H.S., at St. Patrick H.S. and at De La Salle H.S. in Chicago and at St. George H.S. in Evanston and St. Joseph H.S. in Westchester. He served directly for the Christian Brothers as Provincial and Auxiliary Provincial from 1966 to 1972. He was also a member of the Brothers’ formation team, community director, health care coordinator, and associate director of the Lasallian Volunteers at different times. From 1987 to 1990 he served again as Auxiliary Provincial. Since 2001 he lived with the Christian Brothers at their Chicago residence on Indiana Avenue. Survivors include his brother Joseph Anglim of Fort Myers, FL, his sister, Sister Eileen Anglim, BVM, of Chicago, and his religious family, the Brothers of the Christian Schools. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on January 6th at Sancta Alberta Chapel at Lewis University at 7:00 pm. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL, at 9:30 am on January 7th. Memorials may be sent to Brothers of the Christian Schools of the Midwest, 7650 S. Brother Richard Brady died on June 9
Brother Richard (Richard Steven) Brady, 70, a De LaSalle Christian Brother for 48 years, died on Tuesday, June 9 at Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Illinois. Born John Laurence Brady in 1938 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of the late Lorenzo and Marie (Haubursin) Brady. He graduated from Christian Brothers College H. S. in 1956 and earned his B.A. degree from Saint Mary’s College (now University) in Winona, MN, in 1960. He then entered the novitiate in Glencoe, MO, and made his first vows the following year and his final profession in 1966. Brother Richard earned an M.A.T. degree from Dominican University in River Forest, IL, in 1997. During his career as an educator he taught at De La Salle Institute, St. Mel H.S. and St. Patrick H.S. in Chicago and at St. Joseph H.S. in Westchester, IL. During those years he was also involved at different times with athletics, baseball and soccer, and retreat programs. He was Secretary of the East Suburban Catholic Conference (ESCC) for 30 years. Survivors include his aunt, Mrs. Bess Dutson of Webster Groves, MO, a nephew Kevin Brady of Lone Tree, CO, a niece Dawn Brady of Lewisville, TX. and his religious family, the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Visitation will be conducted at Saint Patrick High School, 5900 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL on Friday, June 12, 2009 at 4PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 5PM. Interment will be private at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, IL. Memorials preferred to the De La Salle Christian Brothers Retirement Fund, 7650 S. County Line Road, Burr Ridge, IL 60527 or the American Diabetes Society in the name of the De La Salle Christian Brothers.
