This past weekend the De La Salle Institute Meteors soccer team hosted the Totino-Grace High School Eagles from the Twin Cities for a Lasallian scrimmage on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Chicago, another great example of the Lasallian network in action!
Comments from TG staff:
Andrew Blake: De La Salle Meteors hosted the Totino-Grace Eagles boys soccer team in a Lasallian scrimmage today. On the day of their homecoming dance, we toured DLS, played a great game, traded T-shirts and had a post game BBQ. Much gratitude to our amazing hosts from De La Salle!
Bill Vance: On behalf of the coaches and players from T-G we are extremely grateful for the hospitality and ‘association’ demonstrated in large and small ways during our visit to De La Salle Institute–lots of memories created, lots of grace, witnessed, and skillful soccer from both sides! One of our parents found me and said, “Talk about hospitality, a staff member took us in to see the school and were very kind and welcoming.” Thanks! Our boys were talking about your school and wondering how soon they will be able to wear your soccer t-shirts on one of our out of uniform days! You have an open invitation to Totino-Grace for service and soccer or most importantly a “together and by association” visit anytime. Live Jesus in our hearts!
Tom Dufficy, De La Salle: When I saw some of the De La Salle varsity soccer players in the hallway this morning, they could not stop talking about meeting and playing against the ‘cool” team from Minnesota. (They also mentioned that they want soccer warm-ups and bags like TG’s team). I would like to thank the coaches and the squad for a great afternoon, as well as compliment them on their skill and sportsmanship during the game. I am glad we were able to work the tour and the BBQ into your busy schedule. Trading the school shirts was in one of my players words, ‘really awesome.’ I speak for all of us in the soccer program when I say, it was a pleasure meeting other Lasallians and such fine people. I hope we can do this again in the future.
Live Jesus in our Hearts!
